I just got MW2 a few days ago and have been having fun on the campaign, so I decided to start playing online. I go to join a lobby and everyone's rank is waaaaay up there. like 40's to 70's. then it gets down to mine. Rank 1.
It's really weird and I always feel uncomfortable being such a low level compared to higher levels/ranks on games, because eventually I'll make a noob mistake and people complain about it, which leads to a whole series of thoughts in my head making me not like the game as much.
So I'm basically asking: are higher ranks going to whine about my level a lot? or is there a way to avoid that whole ordeal? (Sucking at such a low level, etc.)
Answer:You will get some people who will complain but most people don't that i've found. I've seen some people at low levels destroy higher level players. Just because people are high level doesn't make them good. They could just play a lot. Also, MW2 servers try to put you with people around your same skill level so the playing field should be pretty fair and level.
If it bothers you what people say. For the time being, disable the voice chat and don't worry about what they are saying.

So what if they say something negative? I myself am rank 70 and I personally don't care much about people of lower ranks. The way I see it, It's just a game, and as long as we're having fun what else matters.
Answer:Level means nothing in Modern Warfare 2. And trust me, people will understand that you're new to the game and will cut you some slack.

Answer:Well to begin with, it shouldn't bother you, just have fun and play the game. In addition, people don't talk a lot on mw2, so you shouldn't have to worry too much (though there are jerks who bash on lower ranks because they're in a party and they think it's cool or something– just mute these people). Also, in my opinion, ranks in MW2 don't tell you anything. It either tells you they mod to get those ranks, or they just play insane amounts of MW2 and maybe just suck at the game — though I'm not bashing on players with high ranks and are actual good at the game F.Y.I.
Don't worry about making mistakes, no one will know you made a mistake because people are too busy focusing on their own player.

Answer:Dude, just mute everyone else and play. The only way you'll get better, and avoid having people complain, is to get experience with the game. Most of what makes you a better player is learning the maps. After that, its a piece of cake.
Also, higher levels doesn't necessarily mean they're a good player. Trust me. It just means they play a lot.
And anyway, when you start out in a lower level it usually throws you into lobbies full of other people at somewhat lower levels. Try merc team deathmatch instead of normal, you'll encounter less clans.
Also, being a noob is nothing. Try being a girl.. THAT is when the insults/whining happens.
Answer:I agree with Hales. 90% of that game is simply knowing the maps and the usual routes people take to get around on the maps. That is all experience and just because those people are higher levels than you doesn't mean they are that much better than you. Unlike other games, the COD MW2 rank system is strictly experience based and not performance based at all meaning that the more you play the higher your rank, not the more you win the higher your rank. So someone could lose every single match and die all the time, but if they played enough they could 10th prestiege. Keep your head up and keep playing. everyone has good days and bad days in gaming.
